Special Consideration for Youth
Young travelers who are 25 or under, can benefit from a number of discounts on travel and accommodation with the International Youth Travel Card. It is offered by the International Student Travel Confederation (ISTC) and is open to students and non students. It is available through a number of offices located around the world.
In France, youth travelers are also eligible for discounts at sights, theaters, museums, as well as for train, subway, ferry and airplane travel. Youth and student travelers should always inquire about discounts, even if they are not posted. Be prepared to prove your youth or student status.
The International Student Identity Card (ISIC) is also available for young people who are not students. ISIC membership offers a number of benefits and discounts on travels, as well as a toll-free Travelerís Assistance Hotline. Through its partner organizations, residency permits and limited work permits, available under its work exchange programs, can be obtained for qualifying candidates.
Young people visiting France can reside in one of the many Youth Hostels (auberges de la jeunesse) that can be found in almost every major urban center, as well as in the countryside.
