Visa Requirement

A visa is required for a certain number of visitors to France, depending on the country delivering their passport, except for those from the EU nations as well as those from a small number of countries including Canada and the U.S.

A visa is required by anyone staying in France more than 3 months, regardless of citizenship, and must be obtained from the French embassy or consulate in your home country.

Long-stay visas (for work, study or au pair) have varying requirements. You will need a student visa if you are visiting France for study, along with acceptance papers from the school you will be attending and proof that studies will occupy most of your time while in France.

For information pertaining to your specific situation, check with the French Authorities in the United States or Canada.
