Abercombie & Kent river cruises
Freedom of choice and individuality have always been part of the barging experience. The fact that barging holidays can be all things to all travellers is one very good reason for Abercrombie & Kent's 30 years of success. They offer what some describe as the finest fleet in Europe, including canal barges and river cruisers, hotel vessels and intimate charters, three-and six-night departures, and a choice of five European destinations. Specialty cruises, such as family departures, walking/ biking and barging combinations, antiques, fine arts, gardens, opera, and culinary cruises are offered throughout the season, which runs from March to November. In addition, most barges have bicycles on board, and some have a selection of golf and/or tennis equipment available to try your hand on the courts and courses along the way.
European Waterways
Since 1974, European Waterways has been mastering the art of travel through the heartland of Europe on board of private vessels accommodating six to twelve guests, offering voyages that capture the imagination and enrich the spirit. More than a dozen Hotel Barges gently cruise through the legendary on journeys that touch the soul of Europe. These carefully restored vintage vessels, carrying the amenities of country hotels, glide through quiet villages and past ancient abbeys and grand châteaux. Passengers may view and visit the splendid landscapes of royal vineyards and medieval battlefields. The history and legends of the countryside are revealed with each passing péniche and turn of the canal. Despite the many new innovations and amenities of these elegant vessels, the main lure and attraction remains the magic of traveling on historic canals, through beautiful countryside and working ancient locks designed 300 years ago!
